CHARLTON look set to sign China captain Zheng Zhi from Shandong Luneng in a £2million deal.

The 26-year-old midfielder played a dozen games for the Addicks in the Premiership last season and won good reviews for his performances.

He is due to fly to London to make the move permanent after Charlton agreed a deal with the Chinese champions and could feature in the season opener against Scunthorpe.

Zheng, who was named Chinese footballer of the year in 2003 and 2006, found the net 21 times for Shandong Luneng last season and also scored for Charlton against Newcastle during his loan spell.
