Lydd-based trial cyclist Scott Wilson finished 14th overall in the inaugural Biketrial International Union Masters Cup event in China.
Held outside Shanghai’s Jin Mao Tower over May 1 and 2, the 18-year-old completed the first round of competition in ninth place after registering 12 penalty points.
Having qualified for the second day, Wilson was in line to make it through to the third round until a mistake on the last stage condemned the young British rider to 14th, missing the cut by four penalty points.
The Elite 26” category rider will then complete his UCI World Cup campaign in Belgium and Switzerland, after securing 27th and 36th place respectively in the opening two rounds of the series.
A further trip to the Far East is on the cards too, for the final round of the BIU World Championship in Japan on August 23-25.
