KENT paceman Amjad Khan has set his sights on Oval glory after helping club side Lordswood to the final of the Evening Standard Challenge Trophy.

Khan got his eye in early when Lordswood travelled to Enfield for the semi-final and hit an impressive 50. He then bagged three for 29 as Lordswood sealed a 64-run win to set up the biggest game in the club’s history.

Lordswood will now take on Hertfordshire Premier Division team Radlett in the final on Sunday, September 14.

Having beaten South Woodford, Stanmore, Purley, Wanstead and Finchley in earlier rounds, Lordswood travelled to Enfield on Sunday as underdogs. But after being put into bat, the team quickly settled with Paul Richards scoring 39 to go with Khan’s 50.

Terry Rollock weighed in with 46 before Mick Cadmore scored 39 from just 21 balls. Peter Clinton (39 not out) and Peter Stock (31) also contributed as Lordswood reached 266 for five.

With a decent total to defend, the Lordswood bowlers kept Enfield under pressure.

Khan and Tony Odle took three wickets each and despite an unbeaten 86 from Clohosy, the North London side were well beaten.

More than 200 fans are expected to travel to the final with Lords already having booked three double-decker coaches for players and fans.

The final, which start at 11am, will be a 50-over match with £5,000 going to the winning team.

Lordswood press officer Terry Presland said: “I’ve been with the club 30 years and this final is bigger than any game I remember.”
