CHARLTON manager Alan Curbishley admits the club may seek special dispensation from the Premier League to sign an extra goalkeeper on loan.
First choice stopper Dean Kiely fractured a finger in training on Monday and will miss the start of the new season.
He will be replaced by Danish international Stephan Andersen, but the Addicks have only two youth goalkeepers as cover.
Premiership clubs are only allowed to have two loan players at any one time and Charlton have already completed the signings of Alexei Smertin from Chelsea and Jonathan Spector from Manchester United.
Curbishely said: "Deano’s injury gives Steph a big chance, and that is why we brought him here – to take his chance when it came.
"But if you look a what we’ve got left, we’ve got three keepers with only a handful of games between them.
"If it gets any worse, we might have to go to the Premier League and ask for dispensation to have an extra loan."
Andersen tasted top flight action for the first time at the end of last season and he will be hoping to build upon impressive performances against Manchester United and Chelsea.
