Kent begin their LV=County Championship campaign on Wednesday with coach Jimmy Adams insisting his players are the equal of anyone in Division 2.
Having narrowly missed out on promotion last season, the former West Indies captain is confident Kent can learn from their mistakes of 2012 and go one better this summer.
Leicestershire provide the first test for Kent but rather than worry about the opposition at Grace Road, Adams (pictured) simply wants his players to hit the ground running.
He said: “I want to see Kent settle down as quickly as possible, get into the groove of four-day cricket. I’d like to think we have the skills to match anybody.
“Last season we missed out at critical moments, both in our batting and bowling. We’re aware of them and we need to grab them this season if we want to go a step further.
“Experience always helps and I’m hoping that what we went through last year will count for something.
“The lads have put the yards in, they’ve done their preparation. Everybody has high hopes and I’m no different. I’ve got a talented group of players here.”
