Charlton v Liverpool
CHARLTON will be backed by more than 1,000 Kent based football fans for tonight's sell-out home game against Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League at The Valley.
Twenty-two coaches will make the trip from 35 departure points across the county as the Addicks attempt to improve on seventh place against opponents who are level on 37 points but have a superior goal difference.
Manager Alan Curbishley will revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation tonight having switched to a 4-4-2 for Saturday's FA Cup win over Yeovil.
He explained: "The formation gives us a lot of pluses because the back four is shielded, but then we lose other things, so it's a bit of a balancing act for me. I know that if we go with a 4-4-2 we'll create more chances but with the 4-2-3-1 we're a lot tighter at the back."
He added: "There's a third of the season left and we've got ourselves into a great position, perhaps we don't realise how good a position. All the pressure tonight is on Liverpool because we can't drop anywhere.
"Perhaps we can take a leaf out of Yeovil's book because Liverpool are expected to be in the top four, so we'll have to see what happens.
"We're going into the match on the back of two great results against Birmingham and Everton and if we can beat Liverpool it will send a signal to the rest of the Premier League."
