More on KentOnline
THE 15th Kent Messenger Sunshine Golf Challenge gives you the chance to win an all-expenses paid holiday of a lifetime playing golf on the sun-soaked Algarve.
The Challenge has become established as one of the most popular of its kind in the country.
The Kent Messenger champion will fly to Portugal for a seven-day trip from November 5 to 12 where you will also compete for a fabulous golf break for two at the prestigious Le Meridien Penina Golf Resort.
All the regional newspaper champions will compete in their own tournament in Portugal, with the winner landing the superb trip. It’s the chance to win two great golfing holidays within a few months.
But first you have to battle through several rounds of nerve-racking matchplay locally. Numerous previous winners, along with runners-up, have enjoyed an unforgettable experience among hundreds of golfers and non-golfers who have joined the Sunshine Challenge trip.
It is open to all golfers who hold a club handicap of 24 or below and ladies 36 or below.
Thanks to the support of tournament sponsors Bill Goff, entry is just £15 and with confirmation of your entry, you will receive a polo shirt embroidered with the Sunshine Challenge motif.
Competitors drawn at home will have a choice of venue, whether it be their own, their opponent’s or a neutral course. Green fees will be shared equally between the two players.
We will keep competitors up-to-date with results while Bill Goff will supply information on the draw for each round. The last four will compete for the title of Kent Messenger Sunshine Challenge champion 2006.
Home for the stay in Portugal will be the Tivoli Hotel Almansor in Carvoeiro. Also included in the winner’s package is a week’s free car hire, practice round and entry into a four-ball betterball competition.
In all, the overall value of the Algarve prize is £650.
The runner-up of the KM competition will collect a £250 Bill Goff holiday voucher which can be used toward the trip with the beaten semi-finalists picking up a £50 voucher.
Reigning KM champion Steve Lovell (pictured), a member of Sittingbourne Golf Club, said: "I was delighted to win last year and represent the Kent Messenger Group in Portugal. It is a fantastic competition. At £15 to enter, it’s great value. Make sure you enter."
