Zak Crawley has been named in the England squad to face New Zealand in a two-match Test series next month.
Crawley, now an England regular, is part of a 15-man squad to face New Zealand.
The first Test takes place at Lord’s on June 2-6 and they then head to Edgbaston on June 10-14 for the second Test.
The 23-year-old made his international debut for England during the tour of New Zealand in 2019. He hit a half-century for England in the third Test against India in Ahmedabad in February but struggled for runs in the next match, out for scores of nine and five.
Kent have yet to win a Championship game this summer and Crawley admitted he was frustrated not to reach his first century of the summer, against Yorkshire earlier this month, out for 90 after miscuing a drive at Steve Patterson to England captain Joe Root at cover.
Speaking after the match, he commented: “I have high standards for myself, and I’ve definitely been below those so far this year."
He scored 85 in Kent’s last match, a drawn game against Sussex.
Crawley said: "I was disappointed to make another mistake between 50 and 100. It’s something I will try to rectify but I feel in really good nick, and if you can score 85 you can certainly score 100”
England squad: Joe Root (Yorkshire) Captain, James Anderson (Lancashire), James Bracey (Gloucestershire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Rory Burns (Surrey), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Craig Overton (Somerset), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Olly Stone (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).
