Kent opener Zak Crawley was bowled for 11 late on day four of the second Test against West Indies.
Crawley had made a golden duck during England's first innings at Old Trafford and sacrificed his wicket in the chase of quick runs during a lively fourth evening.
England lead the Windies by 219 at stumps after three wickets from Stuart Broad had helped dismiss the tourists for 287, setting up what could be an exciting final day.
It proved to be a short-lived innings for Crawley with the bat, however, with Kemar Roach sending the 22-year-old's middle stump flying.
England had shuffled their batting order and Crawley followed shortly after Jos Buttler, promoted to open, had gone for a duck.
Crawley, batting at no.3 for England in preference to his more senior Kent team-mate Joe Denly, had a first innings to forget. He was out first ball after being caught by Jason Holder at leg slip.
England ended their first innings on 469-9 declared as Dom Sibley (120) and Ben Stokes (176) scored centuries.
West Indies won the first Test in a three-match series at the Ageas Bowl last week. The third Test gets under way at Old Trafford on Friday.
