EYNSFORD are one match away from a dream final played at Lord’s, the home of cricket.

They beat Buckinghamshire champions Dinton in the quarter-finals of the npower Village Cup by 40 runs, thanks largely to a brilliant century from Gary Atkins.

Eynsford did not have the best of starts and were 7-1 before Jamie Wise joined Atkins at the crease and sensible batting took the score to 52-1 off 14 overs.

Wise was then caught for 26 when trying to up the tempo, which brought Ian Playfoot in to form a match-winning partnership with Atkins.

An excellent 47 off 50 balls from Playfoot including three sixes, player-of-the-match Atkins' century (12 fours and three sixes) and the tail adding some valuable runs helped Eynsford to close on 212-9.

A fine opening and final spell from Krishnan (3-53) and tight bowling from Ben and Dan Wise, who both took two wickets, ensured defeat for Dinton

Next up is a home semi-final clash with either Carew (Wales) or Shipton-under-Wychwood (Oxfordshire) on Sunday, August 14.

The final is on August 28.

Club press officer Lindsay Hamill said: "We should not fear anyone, but respect the team we end up facing.

"We did very well to win the Kent area and progress this far, beating a decent Eversholt side and superb Glynde and Beddingham outfit on the way."

The only other Kent team to have ever reached the final are Maidstone-based side Linton Park, who have won it twice.
