SITTINGBOURNE Speedway’s home meeting against Rye House on Sunday has been cancelled.
Two meetings in one afternoon at the Old Gun Site circuit in Iwade last weekend took its toll both on the Crusaders squad and the track itself.
The club has found itself the necessary means to keep neighbouring sites dust-free.
The circuit needs watering before and between heats but both water carts broke down during last weekend’s double header.
Chairman Graham Arnold has been trying hard all week to make the necessary repairs but has been forced to admit defeat.
Sittingbourne are keen to thank Rye House for their understanding and cooperation and apologises to both sets of fans.
No new date has yet been arranged.
The club's away fixtures are unaffected. The Crusaders travel to Rye House in Hoddesdon on Saturday night and then make the short journey to the Wimbledon Dons on Wednesday.
The club is boosted by the news that Wayne Parker and Mark Baseby, who suffered injuries last weekend expect to be fit to take their places in the side.
However, skipper Chris Hunt is expected to be out for up to six weeks with a broken collar bone.
