ALL eyes will be on manager Alan Curbishley's selection tonight against Southampton at The Valley as Charlton attempt to make amends for their 4-0 mauling by Manchester City two weeks ago.
Immediately after the final whistle at the City of Manchester Stadium, Curbishley took the unusual step of calling a meeting on the pitch with assistant manager Keith Peacock and coach Mervyn Day to discuss an unacceptable performance.
"I just wanted confirmation that Keith and Mervyn had seen what I had," Curbishley explained.
The outcome could be changes to a defence that has leaked eight goals already on the road this season.
Centre-back Chris Perry, who did not figure in the squad at Manchester, could be recalled while Hermann Hreidarsson may be moved from left-back to central defence in a bid to tighten up.
Alternatively, Morocco international Talal El Karkouri could be introduced to his natural position at the heart of the defence as Curbishley seeks quick solutions.
The Addicks could also have inspirational skipper Matt Holland available for the first time since he damaged ankle ligaments on the opening day at Bolton.
One player who will not figure in tonight's selection is left-back Chris Powell who has been loaned to West Ham for a month. He was among the unused substitutes for the Hammers' 2-1 win at Sheffield United on Saturday.
The former England international, who turned 35 last week, signed a one-year extension to his contract in the summer.
Curbishley said: "I can understand Chris's situation. He didn't play a lot of games last year and it was frustrating time for him. That's why I let him go out on loan to West Ham. It's something I was always going to do and I think it will do everybody some good."
Tonight's match kicks off at 8pm.
