CHARLTON manager Alan Curbishley believes Dennis Rommedahl’s winner three seconds from time in Sunday’s derby with Crystal Palace will provide him with the confidence boost he needs.

The 26-year-old Denmark international winger has made a less than auspicious start to life at the Valley since his £2 million summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

"I’m hoping that goal will do his confidence the world of good," said Curbishley. "Against Palace he showed a few people what he’s capable of. Now I hope it will give him a big lift because no matter how much you pay for a player, confidence is a massive thing."

On Saturday, the Addicks play away to bottom club West Bromwich Albion.
