CHARLTON manager Alan Curbishley has accused England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson's of being naïve following his latest gaffe with a fake sheikh.
Curbishley said: "In this day and age we've all got to be careful of the press. That's where the relationship has changed over the last 10 years. Managers and players can't get close to individuals because of everything that goes on.
"Sven was caught off guard when he said certain things. I'm sure he'll realise that now and it won't happen again.
"I know he's apologised to the players concerned but a little bit of naivety crept in, as it has before on a couple of occasions with Sven. He'll live and learn."
But Curbishley dismissed speculation that the Football Association are considering a shortlist of candidates to replace Eriksson.
He added: "I wouldn't think the FA are in a situation where they are considering a shortlist. I don't think it needs to be considered."
