Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish was a proud man as he savoured another of his best moments in more than four years in charge at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday night.
The holders retained their grip on the FA Trophy the hard way, coming from behind after Luke Moore missed a penalty to beat former League side Wrexham 3-1 with a display he described as “a great, complete performance.”
Fleet boss Daish said: “The game had everything. Commitment, heartache, quality, passion and we scored three great goals.
“It wasn’t a one-off either. We earned the right to get them back here, set our intentions out from the start and had a right go at them.
“I told the lads at half-time to stay patient, because we hadn’t created many clear-cut chances. But we kept going, kept believing and in the end we deserved it.
“I thought Michael Gash led the line superbly, that’s his standard, and if he does that he can go for a lot of money.”
Daish admitted he couldn’t repeat what he said when Sacha Opinel gifted Wrexham their opener but had sympathy with Luke Moore over his missed spot-kick.
He said: “I have been in that situation myself, the one-time I stepped up to take one. Keepers become very big but later he scored a brilliant goal.”
