Dallas chases ABA junior crown

TITLE CONTENDER: Tom Dallas

CHATHAM boxer Tom Dallas faces his biggest test of the year as he looks to take the Under-91kg Junior ABA title on Saturday.

The St Mary’s fighter travels to Yorkshire to face North East Counties champion Warren Baister (Marley Potts) after he received a walkover in the semi-final when opponent Ricky Newlands, of Repton, failed to show up.

Trainer Andy Kidd has been working Dallas hard in the gym and reckons he is looking as sharp as ever.

He said: “He’s looking very good in the gym. He’s been doing some sparring in the gym against heavier opponents and his fitness is good, so hopefully we’ll get a positive result.

“The last time I had a champion was in the Senior ABA with Johnny Armour in 1990, so I’m hoping to add the Junior ABA to that list.”
