KIRK SHEPHERD: recovered from 2-1 down to secure victory

YOUNG Kent qualifier Kirk Shepherd caused the biggest upset of the PDC World Championships so far after knocking out fourth seed Terry Jenkins.

Jenkins failed to find victory even though he had seven darts at doubles to clinch the match in the fourth.

Shepherd, 21, from Ramsgate, recovered from 2-1 down at Alexandra Palace to reach the second round in a five-set thriller.

Another qualifier, Jamie Caven, also registered a shock with straight-sets win over Wes Newton on day three.
