JOHNNY Armour will step back into the ring on Saturday, September 21, to defend his WBU bantamweight title at Brentwood International Centre. Medway Messenger can exclusively reveal that the Chatham fighter will defend his title on the same bill as Colin Dunne, who defends his WBU lightweight title that night.
Although an opponent has yet to be named, Armour is delighted that he can start to prepare for his second title defence. He said: “I can't wait to get cracking. I've been ticking over since the last fight working on my strength and it's already paying dividends.
“I already feel a lot stronger and my punches feel as if they are going in bigger and my timing is improving. I can’t wait to get back into the ring. I know I wasn't at my best against Francis Ampofo last time and I want to get that fight out of my system and show people what I'm all about.”
Armour’s manager Terry Toole is still in negotiations and an announcement should be made soon.
