Delroy Facey will meet Gillingham manager Mark Stimson today (Friday) to discuss his future at the club.
The 28-year-old has spoken to other clubs this summer, as he seeks a move away from Gillingham and get his career back on track, after failing to make it into Stimson’s plans for the new season.
“We’ll go through a few things and try and work out what’s best for both parties,” said Stimson.
“Del needs to get back playing football. He hasn’t trained much with us in pre-season because he’s living back up North but if he is going to come back with us, then he’s got to come down and get rented accommodation and get his head down. If he’s not then we’ll part company and he’ll score goals in his career elsewhere.”
Stimson will also meet with Kevin Maher and offer him a package which he hopes will tempt the midfielder into joining the club.
Maher is still training with the Gills and is currently weighing up offers from League 1 sides Oldham and Swindon.
Stimson said: “It would be great to have him on board and he can play a key role in the two big games we’ve got coming up.
“While there is competition from Swindon and Oldham he’ll be thinking about that. If we can put something down that attracts him, then hopefully he’ll give us an answer over the weekend, or early Monday morning with a yes or no and we’ll move on.”
