Defender returns for Everton test

FIT AGAIN: Djimi Traore
FIT AGAIN: Djimi Traore

Charlton Athletic v Everton

CHARLTON hope left-back Djimi Traore will be fit to face Everton having been out of the reckoning since the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea where he sustained a stress fracture of a fibula.

The former Liverpool player played 90 minutes for the reserves on Monday and is almost certain to be included in the squad.

But Jimmy- Floyd Hasselbaink is struggling with the thigh strain that kept him out of last week’s match at Reading.

Manager Les Reed confirmed that the club have been assessing former China captain Zheng Zhi who trained with the squad on Thursday before leaving to play in the Asian Games in Quatar.

He was recommended to Charlton by former Maidstone United manager Bobby Houghton, formerly coach of the China national side.

Reed said: "We were given the opportunity to look at Zheng Zhi who plays for China’s national champions and is an international.

"He was a full-back who’s made a successful switch into midfield. The Asian Games gives us the chance to monitor him and then pick up the reins after they are over."
