CHRIS DICKSON’S impressive form for Gillingham has earned him a call-up for the Ghana national team.

The on-loan striker, who has netted 11 goals for Gillingham, will form part of a provisional 40-man squad ahead of the African Nations Cup.

Dickson was born in Plumstead but qualifies for selection through his family roots. His father is Ghanaian but he could have also played for Jamaica - the country of his mother’s origin.

He will play alongside players such as Chelsea’s Michael Essien.

“A lot of credit must go to Gillingham,” said Dickson. “If it wasn’t for the club I probably wouldn’t have got the call up.”

Dickson ends his loan spell after the match at Brighton on Friday and returns to Charlton.
