CHRIS DICKSON looks set to play his final game for Gillingham on Friday as manager Mark Stimson admits the striker is unlikely to return.

The club’s 11-goal top scorer will return to Charlton after Friday’s trip to Brighton, following a three month loan spell.

Although Charlton boss Alan Pardew has revealed he could even recall Dickson before the Brighton game after an injury to frontman Chris Iwelumo at West Brom on Saturday.

Stimson is already making plans to replace Dickson and said: “With the amount of goals he’s scored there’s going to be bigger clubs than ourselves looking at him.

“It will be hard for us to compete with those clubs.

“I hope he’s enjoyed his time here and I hope he’s fit enough to play against Brighton.

"If he is, what a way it will be to go out against your rivals, and hopefully he’ll be looking to get a hat-trick and not be happy with just one.”

Among the targets for Stimson will be Conference top scorer Stuart Fleetwood although there are still players among the current squad who will be hoping to stake their claim.

Stimson said: “Delroy Facey came on (against Bournemouth) and looked a handful. He might have given himself the opportunity to step in and take his place.

“We’ve got loads of targets to aim for. I love players with hunger.

"Of course you have to be able to score a goal and you have to have quality but for me desire is the biggest thing I look for in a player.

"How hungry are they to score not one, but three, not to be a Division 1 player but to be a Premiership player. Has Dickson got that? I don’t know.

“There are lots of targets out there and when the window comes open we’ll look to get those targets.

"Before that we’ve got some really big games coming up over Christmas and it’s about getting some points on the board because I don’t think we should be where we are, but we are, and we have to deal with it.”
