The Kent FA have agreed a new sponsorship with ferry operators DFDS.
The agreement sees DFDS become an official county cups partner for adult competitions over the next two seasons.
DFDS will also be supporting the Kent FA’s environmental commitment to make Kent greener.
During the 2022/23 season Kent FA will be hosting 13 adult county cup competitions that DFDS will sponsor.
A statement from the Kent FA said: “DFDS has a longstanding love for the beautiful game, having been a partner of Newcastle United for over 20 years.
“DFDS Dover is one of the busiest channel crossings in the UK, with over 54 daily channel crossings and pre-pandemic, they supported over five million passengers a year to enjoy their travels.
“DFDS employs over 200 people in Kent alone, and many DFDS colleagues already participate in grassroots football, either as players, volunteers or spectators. They understand the power of football to do good in their communities. Afterall, football can build strong, inclusive communities, improve health and wellbeing and drive gender equality. This shared vision is what makes this partnership so exciting.”
Darryl Haden, Chief Executive of the Kent FA, added: “This is a very exciting partnership for the Kent FA.
“Not only will DFDS be supporting our adult county cup competitions for the next two seasons, but together, we will explore playing and volunteering opportunities for their colleagues and embark on an environment charter for our Kent clubs.
“Our county cup competitions are a fundamental part of the grassroots landscape here in Kent. By working together in partnership with DFDS, we hope to inspire more adults across the county to lace up their boots and help communities come together through football. We look forward to developing this partnership over the upcoming months.”
Christine Burke, partnership manager at DFDS, commented: “DFDS are delighted to be announced as the new county cup partner for Kent Football Association for the next two seasons.
“As the current holder of the World’s Leading Ferry Operator award for the last ten years, we realise the value of building stronger local engagement across our route network. With a climate action plan in place across our fleet, we strive to build a greener and more diverse workforce for all.
Now in our 155th year, DFDS is a company which contributes to our values and the business focuses on the wellbeing.”
