A DISPUTED late penalty denied Margate an away point as they were beaten 2-1 by Ryman League Premier Division promotion chasers Fisher Athletic on damp blustery windy night at Champion Hill, Dulwich.

Referee Justin Comley adjudged that Gate player-coach John Keister had brought down Charlie Hearn in the box and former Tonbridge Angels player-manager Hamid Barr stepped up to beat Charlie Mitten from the spot three minutes from the end.

Margate substitute Ellis Remy, a half time replacement for injured Leon Braithwaite, pulled the Thanet side level with his fifth goal of the season ten minutes earlier, and boss Chris Kinnear thought his side deserved a point.

Osman Sesay set up the goal for Remy to nutmeg Fisher's former Welling goalkeeper James Pullen. Another ex-Wing Anthony Riviere had earlier set-up Fisher's 11th minute opener for Leroy Griffiths to score.

The defeat, Margate's first on the road since August 23 leaves them still looking for their first away league win of the season. and they remain 13th in the table aheaed of Saturday's trip to Braintree Town, the team that knocked them out of the FA Cup last season.
