CHARLTON Athletic produced an impressive defensive display to record their third successive goalless draw at Liverpool on Saturday.

The European champions enjoyed the majority of possession but found it impossible to breach the Addicks' rearguard.

The visitors had goalkeeper Thomas Myhre to thank for keeping the scoreline blank.

He produced a superb save to prevent Herman Hreidarsson putting through his own net and twice denied Djibril Cisse in the first half, before blocking Harry Kewell's second half drive.

Liverpool had a late Robbie Fowler effort controversially ruled out for offside, but Charlton could have snatched it at the death when Bryan Hughes saw his shot cannon wide off a defender.
