INEVATIBLY, the sides took home four points apiece as Kent's rain-ruined game with Worcestershire petered out into a last day, one-innings draw.

Having lost 312 overs and the best part of 20 hours to rain, the match finally got underway on its fourth and final day with Kent batting first having won the toss.

The hosts used up 65 overs in reaching 293 for three built around centuries from Rob Key (125), his first against Worcestershire, and Martin van Jaarsveld (122 not out), for their part in a second wicket stand of 190 in 40 overs.

The innings came to an end in the over before tea when Matthew Walker (9) edged an attempted cut shot to be caught behind with the Kent score on 293 for three.

Worcestershire set out with intent to chase and had 60 on the board within five overs, but then Martin Saggers took three wickets in the space of four balls to knock the stuffing out of the Pears' reply.

Steven Davies (21) hooked to long leg where Neil Dexter took a good catch, next ball Vikram Solanki (42) drove across the line to lose middle stump then, two balls later, Kabir Ali nicked a leg-cutter to Geraint Jones to leave the visitors 66-3.

Ben Smith and Abdul Razzaq saw Worcestershire through to 5.30pm without further alarm when the teams shook hands on a draw and the share of four points apiece.
