Gillingham v Colchester
Gillingham will look to avoid a repeat of last year’s first round Carling Cup exit when they tackle Colchester tonight.
The Gills suffered a 3-0 defeat to Watford last season and will have another hard test this time around.
Colchester were relegated from the Championship last season but head to Priestfield looking to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing 4-2 defeat at Hartlepool.
Gills manager Mark Stimson is likely to name a strong side for the match, but will be without on loan midfielder Curtis Weston, as his club Leeds don't want him cup-tied.
Loan defender Leigh Mills, however, can play in the match.
Coming into the squad will be Nicky Southall and Dennis Oli.
Southall missed Saturday's game as he was attending a funeral, while Oli was recovering from a bug. Stuart Lewis could also be included after being left out at the weekend.
Stimson said: “I expect them to field their strongest team because, like us, they’ll want to go far in this competition because it’s great for the revenue.
“Whoever is fit will want to play because it’s a game against a first division side, who were in the Championship last year and if you get an opportunity to play against someone like that you won’t want to give it up.
“I don’t expect anyone to be knocking on my door and saying ‘leave me out I need a rest’."
