Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish is looking for his depleted squad to give one last effort in an attempt to stop his side’s season ending in mediocrity.

Following a 12-7 aggregate defeat to Peterborough last weekend in the ENIHL South decider, a tie in which just 12 players turned up, Invicta travel to Sheffield on Sunday for the second leg of the ENIHL Cup semi-finals, attempting to extend their already prolonged campaign by another week.

"We go up to Sheffield with a chance and the players we have left are looking forward to it," Parrish said.

"It seems like we’ve been playing for ever and I’d love for the season to be over but the squad that travels on Sunday will give it their all."

Parrish’s wish for the season to be over could become reality, as Invicta may struggle to ice two full lines for the game in Sheffield. The head coach has be left seething by the lack of commitment from a large proportion of his squad since the season entered the silverware stage.

"Some players have let the rest of the squad and supporters down," added Parrish.

"If some players had the dedication of the fans, we’d have more silverware."

His comments are backed up by alternate captain Anthony Leone, who despite suffering two broken ribs in a play-off game against Peterborough over a month ago, has continued to battle on.

"I don’t understand why any player would going missing at this stage of the season. This is the time of year that hockey players play all season for."

"The true hockey players are the warriors that have played the last three weeks – the guys who love to play the game and enjoy taking on the best teams.

"Instead, some of our players seem only to enjoy the easy games where we’ve got a 98 per cent chance of winning."

After the way this season has ended, Parrish admits he is looking to make significant changes in the summer.

"The last month has been a real eye-opener and I now realise we need to make changes in the summer.

"I think at least 10 changes will be needed if we are to compete successfully at this stage of the season next year."
