Invicta Dynamos' hopes of reaching the ENIHL Championship Final were dashed after a 12-7 aggregate defeat to Peterborough Islanders in the South Decider over the weekend.
Following a 6-3 defeat in Peterborough on Saturday, Invicta fell 6-4 at home last night, leaving the Gillingham based club with just the ENIHL Cup to play for.
Sunday's return leg started well for Invicta when Alex Shaw scored after four minutes. Peterborough soon rallied however, putting the tie beyond the home side with four goals of their own.
Grant Baxter pulled two back for Dynamos, but Peterborough added a further two markers before Tom Hiscock scored a late consolation.
In the first leg on Saturday, Peterborough took a quick 3-0 lead in the second period, after a goalless opening 20 minutes.
Player-coach Kevin Parrish replied for Invicta but the Islanders responded with two further markers at the start of the third period.
Baxter and Anthony Leone gave Invicta some hope with goals within a minute of each other, but Peterborough added a sixth late on.
Invicta's cup semi-final second leg against Sheffield ENL Scimitars has been scheduled for Sunday April 27 at Ice Sheffield, face-off at 5pm.
