England 4 Austria 0
THREE goals in the last five minutes helped England's women to a flattering 4-0 win over Austria at Gillingham's Priestfield stadium on Thursday.
The home side took the lead nine minutes before half-time when Austrian defender Sonja Spieler miscued a clearance into her own goal.
The lead was doubled in the 85th minute when Fara Williams got on the end of a fine cutback by Kelly Smith.
Then substitutes Sue Smith and Jody Handley scored two more before the full-time whistle to add gloss to the performance.
The victory puts England four points clear at the top of Group 5 and in a good position to book a place in the World Cup in China next year.
The match was played in front of 8,068 fans, nearly 800 more than watched Gillingham's last home game against Bradford City.
