JASON EUELL has vowed to put club before country after committing his international future to Jamaica.

Charlton’s Lambeth-born top-scorer was approached by the Jamaica Football Federation last season about the possibility of joining up with the Reggae Boyz, despite having been capped by England at under-21 level.

Now the 27-year-old is set to make his international debut in stage two of the CONCACAF qualifying tournament against the United States on August 18 - four days after the start of the Premiership season.

Euell said: “Obviously the travel can be a problem for a lot of players with their clubs I don’t want to jeopardise my Charlton career so I will be having a lot of chats with the management as well as the Jamaican Football Federation, and hopefully we can tie up all the loose ends.

“The JFF has been accommodating to a lot of players and clubs, and they are well aware of the importance of Premiership fixtures. But it’s very exciting for me and I think playing international football can only improve me as a player.”

Euell is likely to play alongside Charlton team-mate Kevin Lisbie for Jamaica as they bid to reach their second World Cup finals after featuring in France ’98.
