CHARLTON'S search for Alan Curbishley's managerial successor could end this week with the appointment of Hull City's Peter Taylor.
The England Under-21 manager and former Gillingham boss is being interviewed on Wednesday after Hull chairman Adam Pearson gave permission for the Addicks to speak to Taylor, who is now 1-2 odds on favourite for the job.
Mr Pearson said: "I am aware that Peter is on the short-list at Charlton. I have accepted that fact and it's now up to Charlton to contact Peter.
"The speculation was becoming too intense and they rang me to say Peter's name was on their short-list so I gave them permission."
With 12 months remaining on his Hull contract, Taylor said that it would take something special for him to leave the KC Stadium.
He said: "We love living in the region and it would take something extra special to tempt me to leave Hull. I've a year left on my contract and I believe we can kick on from what we achieved last season."
Though 53-year-old Taylor and his wife live just outside Hull at North Ferriby, the family home is at Benfleet near Southend.
