FORMER Gillingham and Maidstone groundsman Bill File has died at the age of 62.

Mr File, who last year underwent major heart surgery, had only just moved from Maidstone to a new home at Cromer on the north Norfolk coast.

He left Priestfield in July, 1995. During his time at the club he won the accolade of Division 4 Groundsman of the Year award. More recently he had worked as groundsman for Gravesend and Northfleet at Stonebridge Road.
