THE funeral of Howard Pocock, a former chairman of Kent County Cricket Club, will be held on Thursday (August 21) at Charing Crematorium, near Ashford, at 4.40pm.
Mr Pocock died at a nursing home at Sutton Valence, near Maidstone, the weekend before last. He was 82.
After his death was announced the county flag flew at half-mast at the St Lawrence ground at Canterbury as a mark of respect.
Mr Pocock, a Maidstone-born businessman who lived the majority of his life in Charing, took over the chairmanship from Walter Brice in 1978 having already served on the general committee. He held the chair until January, 1986.
