Ex-Kent seamer snapped up by Northants

SECOND Division Northamptonshire have signed former Kent seam bowler Ben Phillips and also pipped the county's skipper Matthew Fleming to capture ex-Surrey rookie Carl Greenidge. Phillips, released by Kent in August after two injury-plagued seasons, has joined the Wantage Road county on a two-year contract after impressing their captain Matthew Hayden while playing club cricket in Australia.

Greenidge, 23, son of West Indies legend Gordon, was released from The Oval ground staff at the end of the season. He also had talks with Fleming who will be disappointed not to have landed his man. Greenidge played just five first team matches for Surrey last summer claiming six wickets.
