FORMER Kent captain Mark Benson has recovered from minor surgery to correct heartbeat palpitations to take his place on the ICC’s 16-strong umpires’ panel to officiate at the forthcoming World Cup.

Benson joins former Middlesex and Sussex wicketkeeper Ian Gould as the two English representatives on the panel.

Former Kent all-rounder Nigel Llong is one of three stand-by officials.
