BOTH current Charlton season-ticket holders and season-ticket holders from 2005/06 can now buy two extra tickets to see Wednesday night’s match against Manchester United, the club has announced.
The game against the high-profile Red Devils is the first competitive fixture at The Valley for new head coach Iain Dowie.
And with some tickets still remaining for the encounter on Wednesday, August 23 (8pm), the Addicks are increasing each supporter’s permitted allocation.
With some supporters apparently confused as to which categories are allowed to purchase seats for the fixture, the Addicks have emphasised that seats can be bought by both current season-ticket holders and members, plus season-ticket holders from last season, at a maximum of four tickets per person.
Charlton chief executive Peter Varney explained: “Under normal circumstances a home match with Manchester United would sell out two weeks in advance of the match, but there are a number of factors which I believe have contributed to a slow take-up.
“These include the restrictions placed on the match in relation to ticket availability, live coverage of the match by Sky, and the fact that some supporters are still on their holidays.”
He added: “We hope this increase in the number of tickets available to home supporters will help us to achieve a capacity crowd.”
The restrictions on ticket availability are necessary to prevent United fans, who have been offered a reduced allocation due to safety problems at games in recent years, buying tickets in home areas.
Tickets are priced £35 adults, £25 concessions and £15 U18s, and these are available via the ticket hotline on 0871 226 1905, online a www.cafc.co.uk and from the Valley ticket office in person.
