Sevenoaks defeated National South side Bath City on Saturday to make it through to the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The Isthmian South East side beat opponents who play two divisions higher than them in the non-league pyramid. One goal was enough for the Oaks, Jordy Ndozid clinching a 1-0 win with his 35th minute strike at Twerton Park.
Ndozid struck low into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after Dan Hector had seen his effort come off a defender.
Playing infront of a crowd of over 1,000, Oaks had to withstand some late pressure to claim a place in the next round, on an historic day for the club.
A goal from Adam Yusuff sealed Folkestone Invicta’s place in the next round after also beating higher-league opposition, despite playing most of the game with 10 men against National South Dulwich Hamlet.
Invicta defender Nathan Green was sent off for a second bookable offence after just 35 minutes but the teams went into the break goalless. Moments after the restart, however, Yusuff played a one-two with Ira Jackson and found the top corner.
There were no dramas for National South leaders Ebbsfleet United as they beat Hanwell Town 2-1 thanks to goals from Toby Edser and Rakish Bingham. Read the report here.
Herne Bay were 2-0 up against Hendon after just 12 minutes but the home side fought back to win 3-2.
Mason Saunders-Henry struck from distance after six minutes for Herne Bay and Rory Smith doubled the lead from the edge of the box but Hendon got one back just before the break from the penalty spot. They struck twice more in the second half to seal a comeback win.
Beckenham Town are also in the draw for the next round, reaching the fourth qualifying round for the first time in their history after defeating Binfield 5-3 at home.
Louie Theophanous scored twice in the opening half and Freddie Nyhus added another as they led 3-2 at the end of a thrilling first half. George Goodwin and Tyler Anderson added further goals after the break.
There was huge disappointment for Welling United as National South’s basement boys Weymouth beat them 3-0, a first defeat in eight for the Wings who have started their league campaign well.
Weymouth took a 23rd-minute lead and added a second from the penalty spot before the interval. It was all over for Warren Feeney’s side when the Terras added a third in the second half. Welling had the chance to score a stoppage-time consolation from the penalty spot but Ade Azzez’s effort hit the woodwork.
Winning clubs on Saturday all scoop £5,625 in prize money and losing sides pocket £1,875.
The Fourth Qualifying Round takes place on the weekend of Saturday, October 15, the last round of games before the teams from League 1 and 2 of the EFL enter for the first round in early November. All eyes will be on the draw for the next round which takes place on Monday when National League clubs enter the competition.
