Zac Attwood scored a 92nd-minute winner to send Maidstone United through to the FA Trophy third qualifying round on Tuesday night.
Stones looked set for extra-time in their replay against Ryman League Premier Division rivals Wealdstone at the Gallagher Stadium.
Frannie Collin had earlier missed a penalty for Maidstone but Attwood's goal sent them through to a home tie against Eastleigh on November 16.
However, there was heartbreak for Folkestone Invicta as they crashed out on penalties at Hungerford Town.
Michael Yianni had scored in Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Fullicks Stadium and he was on target again in the replay, which finished 1-1 after extra time.
Invicta lost the shootout 5-4, though, missing out on the chance to host Hemel Hempstead in the next round.
There was also late drama in the evening's Ryman League games.
Thamesmead Town hosted Bognor Regis Town in the Premier Division and Jordan Hibbert gave them the lead midway through the first half.
But the West Sussex visitors equalised immediately through Ben Johnson, who scored a last-minute penalty to sink struggling Mead 2-1.
In Division 1 North, Austin Gacheru scored two minutes from time to hand Chatham Town a 3-2 win at Maldon & Tiptree.
Alfie May and Kieran McCann had put the Chats 2-0 up but Maldon fought back to restore parity before Gacheru netted the winner.
Herne Bay won 4-1 at Corinthian Casuals to move into the top half of Division 1 South.
Joe Nelder, Sam Hasler and Jordan Casey (2) scored the goals which handed Bay their first away league win since Sam Denly took over as manager.
