Kent teams still competing in this year’s FA Vase will be straight back in action if non-elite football gets the green light to resume from December 2.
The FA have announced that remaining first round proper matches in the FA Vase and those already into the second round will take place on the weekend of Saturday, December 5 - just days after the possible end of lockdown.
Teams playing non-elite football have been unable to train together during the current Covid-19 restrictions. Southern Counties East teams have been told they plan to resume league action on December 19 but haven’t confirmed fixtures yet as they are awaiting confirmation from the FA.
That date would at least gives teams some time to have some practice games before resuming the league campaign, which was put on hold when Lockdown 2 came into force.
Sheppey United have been on social media asking for friendlies and they are one of the teams who will be thrust straight back into competitive action. Second and third round FA Vase ties will take place on subsequent weekends.
The FA Trophy dates have also been announced and the first round proper will take place on Tuesday, December 8. Isthmian League teams like Margate will have at least have a weekend to prepare for their games. Second round games take place the following week, Tuesday, December 15.
The Isthmian League say they plan to resume football league fixtures on Saturday, December 19, as long as spectators are allowed to attend. Their season has also been extended, to May 22.
