Welling forward Loui Fazakerley has put pen to paper with the club after turning down a move to the Blue Square Premier.
Fazakerley joined the Wings two weeks ago from Bromley and was immediately the subject of a seven-day approach from Histon.
But the diminutive attacker has decided to commit his future to Park View Road and signed a deal following the midweek Kent Senior Cup win over Sittingbourne.
Fazakerley has made an immediate impact for Welling, setting up two goals in the 3-2 defeat of Eastleigh last weekend.
"I'm delighted that Loui has shown he is happy to stay at Welling," said Wings assistant boss Jimmy Dack.
"He has come into the club and hit the ground running, he is a special talent.
"Loui wants to step up and play at a higher level but he needs to play for a club that suits him."
Dack also believes that Fazakerley has the potential to play higher than the Blue Square Premier.
"He should be aiming for the Football League," added Dack. "He would have no problem stepping up to Blue Square Premier but he can go beyond that.
"If he goes to the wrong team then you won't see the best of him but we're delighted he is staying with us.
"He can win a game with one piece of brilliance and I haven't seen that in a player for a long time."
The Wings needed extra-time to defeat Sittingbourne on Tuesday, who took a first-half lead through Colin Richmond.
Second-half goals from Charlie Sheringham and James Baker put Welling ahead but Hicham Akhazzan equalised eight minutes from time. Jack Parkinson, back from a loan spell at Margate, sent Welling through with a 30-yard drive late in extra-time.
