Invicta Dynamos 4 Newcastle Vipers 5 (Newcastle win 8-6 on aggregate)
INVICTA Dynamos' hopes of ending the season with another trophy were dashed on Sunday after Newcastle Vipers recorded a 5-4 victory at the Ice Bowl to take the National League Final.
Despite being deprived of top scorer Jordy Black with glandular fever, the Mos made a commanding start as they bid to overcome a 3-2 deficit from the first leg.
Grant Baxter gave them an early lead, but they missed several chances to double the advantage, and the Vipers made them pay by edging ahead with two strikes in succession from the impressive Ben Campbell.
Peter Korff pulled the score back to 2-2 in the second (4-5 on aggregate), and the sides traded further goals before the end of the period.
The home fans sensed the momentum was with their side when Stuart Low put the Dynamos ahead on the night early in the third, and level on aggregate (6-6).
However, a resilient Newcastle scored a controversial fourth to take an aggregate lead once more, and as the Mos piled forward in search of another equaliser, the Vipers scored their fifth goal of the night to win 8-6 on aggregate.
