HAT-TRICK hero Ryan McLaren may be rewarded for his record-breaking Edgbaston treble with a long-term contract tying him to Kent for another three years.

The 24-year-old South African has enjoyed an eye-catching first season in county cricket having signed a 12-month deal in the close season.

But the rumour mill started turning almost immediately after his three-wicket burst against the Gloucestershire Gladiators on Saturday. McLaren, however, preferred to enjoy the moment of victory.

He said: "It was just an incredible day and a great occasion. I've so enjoyed playing for Kent this summer.

"I don't really know what was going through my head at the time of the hat-trick. It was an amazing moment and a day I'll never forget."
