Ebbsfleet have been left thousands short of hitting their initial MyFootballClub renewals target of 12,000.
The deadline for renewals passed last Thursday although people can sign up at any time via the website.
Chairman John Moules said: “As far as I understand we are nearing 10,000 renewals. We have always been planning and hoping to get 12,000 initially.
“People will carry on joining and renewing over the next few months. We’re looking at 12,000 as a first target. At the moment we are some way towards that.
“Obviously we’d like as many as possible but realistically from the 32,000 people who initially signed up, our target has always been somewhere between 15,000 and 16,000.”
The club are due to hold a board meeting on Wednesday at Stonebridge Road.
Mr Moules said: “We have got the first figures coming through so we are going to sit down and make some serious decisions.”
Selling the club is an option but Mr Moules is hoping they can avoid this.
He explained: “I am always the optimist and never the pessimist and I’d like us to be in a position where we don’t have to consider that.
“The model has been fantastic and I think that members and owners deserve another year.”
