TAKING a wicket with your first ball for the club and hitting the second ball you face for six is a sure fire way of making a positive impression on a cricket crowd.
So it's little wonder Tyron Henderson looked pleased with himself after his Kent debut.
Although he looked jaded from playing so soon after his long-haul flight from South Africa, the new overseas all-rounder was still beaming from ear-to-ear.
Henderson said: “I go for my shots and get decent bat speed. The rest of the guys in my side back home tend to bat around me a little.
"They lost my kit at the airport and I am feeling shattered, but I took a wicket with my first ball and hit a six from the second I faced, so I can’t complain can I."
Kent’s director of coaching Graham Ford believes the 31-year-old from Durban will prove a hit with Kent supporters.
Ford said: "Martin van Jaarsveld rates him extremely highly and was strong in his support and Hall and Kemp have an equal respect for his ability.
"To have those three talking highly of Tyron’s ability just confirmed to me that I was on the right track in going for him.
"When you consider what’s available out there then I think we have signed a very competent cricketer and I don’t think we could have done much better."
