THE Kent Football League are in mourning after the death of president Peter Wager.
Formerly the league’s chairman, Mr Wager had beeen ill for some time and died in Pembury Hospital on Tuesday after a long illness, aged 78.
He and his late wife Marion were stalwarts of the league, and both were also heavily involved with their local club, Tunbridge Wells.
Roy Vinter, the league’s secretary/treasurer said Mr Wager was highly respected throughout football, well beyond the county’s boundaries.
He added: "Peter was totally honest and a stickler for the rules. He insisted on the proper protocol and always spoke his mind in meetings."
