A HUGE amount of adrenalin has been pumping through Spitfire veins and boy, this Twenty20 cricket is really tense stuff.

The flow of a game can change dramatically at any stage and every one of the 240 balls bowled might herald a major event.

Initially, everyone saw Twenty20 as a bit of a hit and giggle affair and teams put little thought or planning into how they might go about their game plans, but that has changed.

The huge spectator interest has motivated teams to take this sprint format of the game very seriously.

Our planning at Kent began in the winter and much work has been done in the nets to improve our limited overs cricket skills.

Twenty20 requires players to perform in high pressure situations where they need to trust their ability to perform. Many hours of hard work are required to develop the necessary trust in those skills for them to applied correctly.

The margins for error are small and great attention to detail is vital. I’ve been fortunate to have wise cricketing heads in Rob Key, Min Patel, Simon Willis and Paul Farbrace to pool many good ideas.

The lads have been brilliant in their thinking and in carrying through the plans and methods we laid down for the team to stay one step ahead of the opposition.
