Andy Frampton is set to join League 2 AFC Wimbledon.

The experienced defender was out of contract at Gillingham this summer and has ended a two year spell at the club.

Frampton played 32 games for the Gills during their League 2 promotion campaign and was set to be offered a new one year deal with Martin Allen’s side for the coming League 1 season.

But Frampton is understood to have agreed a two year deal with the Dons.

Gills boss Allen said: “I had a good long chat with him but I don’t believe we are in a position to offer him a two year contract.

“He has been a very important player for us, on and off the field, and did a great job for Gillingham in the holding midfield role.

“It is disappointing that he is going but I fully understand why. He will do a great job for AFC Wimbledon.”

Frampton joined the Gills in July 2011 having been released by Millwall. He went onto make 66 appearances for the club in the last two seasons.
