'Free-spirited' Fleet can build on recent improvement

Daish: "You can see the confidence is creeping back in"

Ebbsfleet v Barrow

Manager Liam Daish believes confidence is slowly creeping back into his players ahead of Ebbsfleet’s clash against Barrow at Stonebridge Road this Saturday.

The Fleet go into the game on the back of five consecutive Blue Square Premier defeats. But after a narrow 1-0 defeat against League 1 side Crewe in the FA Cup first round last Saturday, Daish can see the belief returning.

"You can see the confidence is creeping back in," said Daish. "We’re playing a bit more free-spirited and we are not frightened to make mistakes.

"We’re playing with a good tempo and played well against Eastbourne. But on Saturday you could see it was coming back.

"You cannot underestimate confidence. If you don’t have it you can get fearful of letting your team-mates down or the fans down.

"I think from now we can have a go and enjoy it. Hopefully we can get the ball down and mix our play up a bit."

Daish is expecting a tough game against Barrow. He added: "Our last two performances have been decent. We’ve got to carry it on and build on that. It is a big game for us on Saturday.

"We need to start scoring goals from different areas and probably need to improve a bit more on set plays. If our previous encounter against Barrow was anything to go by, then we are in for a tough game."

Luke Moore (shin) and Paul McCarthy (back) are Ebbsfleet’s only injury doubts.
