REGULAR first-team cricket was behind Rob Ferley’s decision to quit Kent and join Nottinghamshire.
The 24-year-old left-arm spinner, understudy to Min Patel, has agreed a two-year deal with the East Midland county.
Ferley said: "It was difficult to leave after eight years. I had to consider where I could have the best opportunity of proving myself and, with Min number one, and James Tredwell pretty well-placed as the second spinner, I was third in line.
"I now have the chance at Notts to be second spinner behind Graeme Swann, which gives me the opportunity to bowl regularly.
"It became frustrating at Kent. The second team don’t play many games and I felt my career was standing still and I needed a fresh outlook."
